Homely Residence for the Retired 

 

Fairlawns is a beautiful Victorian detached house which has been tastefully extended and is ideally Suited as a residential care Home. The house is situated in its own pleasant well kept grounds and has car parking facilities for residents and their visitors.  The lake grounds, rose gardens and comprehensive village shopping centre are all within a short walk.

 Fairlawns has been carefully adapted to provide a comfortable, caring home for sixteen elderly ladies and gentlemen.  There is a bright pleasant lounge incorporating a spacious conservatory and a separate dining room, both of which overlook the lawns, fish pond and - flower beds.  Residents can spend time outside on the patio and garden when the weather is warm.  The accommodation is on two floors which are served by a 5 person passenger lift and a stair lift.  Naturally full fire precautions are enforced.

 

All bedrooms have been tastefully furnished to a high standard.  Some have en-suite facilities. Our bathrooms are specifically designed and fully equipped for assisted bathing, one incorporates a therapeutic hydrotherapy spa bath system. Residents may bring their own items of furniture and treasured possessions with them if they wish. All personal laundry is taken care of on the premises.

 

All food is provided - early morning tea in bed, breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea, high tea, and supper.  All food is home cooked with great care.  The menus are carefully planned with residents' own suggestions taken into consideration, providing a variety of well cooked wholesome meals. 

 

We have held the Woodspring Enivironmental Health Departments "Healthy Eating Award" each year since 1992.

Fairlawns aims to provide a home-from-home for those who no longer wish or are capable of living alone and to care for their everyday needs as they arise. Residents are encouraged to have their own daily routine and to be as independent as possible.

Our care assistants are on hand day and night. They are available instantly via a 'call bell system' conveniently placed in all rooms throughout the home.  They are all permanent members of staff who have been carefully selected for their capable, caring qualities.

 The lake grounds and the sea front are only a short walk away

Fairlawns is a cheerful home with plenty of interesting things going on. Residents can take part in organised activities of an entertaining and stimulating nature.  The hairdresser visits weekly, the library service fortnightly, and the chiropodist on request.  The local GPs visit regularly and have the back up of the modern facilities at the Health Centre in Portishead so that everyone is working together for the residents' well-being.

 

Residents' relatives and visitors are welcome to call at any reasonable time.

We have a no smoking policy throughout the building.

Convalescent, holiday care and short term care are also available.

Fees are available on request.

I have now been a resident here for I8 months and like the homely and friendly atmosphere.  You can come and go as you wish and lead your life with your own interests, yet there is always someone to chat to and help when necessary.  The staff are all kind and cheerful and meals very good.
